The project's goal is to mitigate flood risks in Sg Jempul, Sg Yeh, Sg Luit, Sg Kertam & Sg Maran by safeguarding against river overflow. Sg Jempul faces flooding due to ten tributaries converging into one river, leading to overflow into low-lying areas. Sg Luit experiences increased flows from Sg Kertam & Sg Maran due to changes in land use, such as replanting, forest area openings for agriculture, large-scale clearance, and reforestation, resulting in river overflow.
